Running from 25 February to 2 March the student run event brings together live music, workshops and guest industry experts for a conference day. This year the festival is spread across 10 established venues in Southampton including: The Southampton Guildhall, The Joiners, UNIT nightclub, Avondale, The Cellar, Urban Outfitters, Rhino, Lennons, Solent University and Goblets.
Now in its fifth year, every year the week is packed full of exciting music gigs across the city encompassing a variety of genres. All of the events are organised by Southampton Solent students which offer real world practice for the music industry.
Wednesday was the student conference day with renown music experts talking about their experiences in the music industry. These included the award winning music journalist John Robb, Kerrang! Magazine editor James McMahon, Andy Copping the head booker for Download festival, top dog at Live Nation and UK representative for JayZ and Beyonce, and legendary 80s pop icon Steve Strange, as well as many more.
This Saturday the Southampton Guildhall will be host to the SMILEfest closing night with the band Reverend and the Makers headlining with support from Little Comets, local act Sean McGowan, and others. Tickets are still available from the Guildhall Box Office and here.
