Artswork wins Creative Apprenticeships Award

The Southampton-based youth arts organisation were Highly Commended in recognition of their commitment to opening up creative career pathways.
 
In the midst of National Apprenticeship Week, Artswork received a ‘Highly Commended’ award from the National Skills Academy for Creative and Cultural Skills. Artswork have received the Highly Commended designation in the category for “The Creative Apprentice Provider of the Year” in recognition of the company’s commitment and hard work in opening up creative industry career pathways for young people through apprenticeships.
 
Artswork has collaborated with the Partnership for urban South Hampshire (PUSH) and with the Creative and Cultural Employer’s Network, to develop the Creative Apprenticeship Programme. At present, Artswork offer a one year programme in Community Arts Administration – NVQ Level 2. This involves up to 15 off-job training sessions, a 12-month placement at one or more creative and cultural organisations, plus added-value activities including Arts Award at Silver or Gold levels and additional training courses.
 
The first round of Creative Apprentices are currently at work and completing their programmes with employers at John Hansard Gallery, Southampton Music Services (with Turner Sims), Theatre Royal Winchester (with Hat Fair and Winchester City Council), SoCo Music Project and Artswork.  
 

Artswork will be recruiting Apprentices in April and May and is keen to hear from any employers in the Hampshire-wide area who are interested in hosting a Creative Apprentice.
