Hampshire Youth Theatre (HYT) is currently recruiting its 2015 company, with auditions happening at schools, colleges and arts venues across the county until 25 March. This year the project will once again have a residential element, with all participants staying on site during the two week intensive rehearsal period.
HYT is the county’s prestigious youth theatre programme that runs for three weeks during the summer holidays each year. The project is open to young people aged 14-21 from across Hampshire, with the participants selected through an audition process. Nuffield is looking for the most passionate and committed young performers, who demonstrate potential rather than experience. HYT is a platform for aspiring young performers to take their experience of the theatre industry to a new level, with rehearsals encouraging them to use the same techniques that professional actors would use.
Continuing from a series of strong ensemble pieces, which last year led the company to perform as part of the Art at the Heart Festival in Southampton’s Guildhall Square, the company of HYT 2015 will be performing Shakespeare’s Henry IV on Nuffield’s main stage, in a brand new adaptation combining both parts of the story into one play.
HYT residential rehearsals will run from 17th – 29th August, with the show week running from 31st August until 5th September at the Nuffield Theatre.
