Join us for the second annual Cultural City Conference to discuss the future of Southampton and the role that Cultural organisations and us as individuals play in that future. Develop valuable partnerships and collaborations, be inspired by insightful speakers and play your part in establishing Southampton as a major cultural destination.

Ticket prices – Early Bird: £20.00 – Standard Price: £25.00 – Ticket price includes Lunch, refreshments and evening drinks reception.

We are offering artists working within Southampton special bursaries in return for their valued input into this event. Each artist we select will be awarded £100 and VIP delegate passes. In return, we ask that you simply attend all events and then create a blog or visual output from the event as well as playing your part in the discussions during the event.

To apply for one of ten places please email with your CV and one-page statement/visual – telling us why you want to attend the conference and what Southampton means to your practice.



Keynote Speakers

KEY NOTE SPEAKER – ANDREW DIXON Andrew Dixon has worked with over 80 local authority areas and has over 35 years experience of promoting places through culture and tourism as a journalist, Chief Executive and Director of Culture Creativity Place.

KEY NOTE SPEAKER – MICHAËL ROUMEN Arts administrator and consultant, specialising in public-private collaboration, entrepreneurial development and regional cultural policy. Represents artists from different disciplines and places: a poet from Genua, a musician from Berlin and a visual artist from Leiden.

KEY NOTE SPEAKER – RUTH MELVILLE  Ruth Melville is a freelance researcher and cultural policy practitioner. Acting as Monitoring and Research Advisor to Aarhus 2017 European Capital of Culture and critical friend for the Transported programme of Arts Council England’s Creative People and Places

HOSTED BY – VERONICA GORDON Veronica Gordon is a Journalist for ITV Meridian, Deputy Manager at Unity 101 Radio presenting their Vibrant Vibes radio show covering the latest news from Southampton’s black communities. Former BEFFTA ’Black BAFTA’ Radio Personality of the Year.
