Southampton Named #3 in UK Growth Index

Southampton has been ranked the third highest UK city for growth. Taking in to consideration elements such as employment, health, income and skills. Southampton were only beaten by Oxford and Reading.

James Gough, Director of Southampton’s Cultural Development Trust, said: “It is a exciting time in Southampton, with a recognition that the city’s heritage and culture are key drivers for the development of city pride and economic growth. A number of strong partnership projects are underway that look to ensure that collectively the city maximises the social and economic value of its strong cultural sector, it looks like the city is well on its way to experiencing a resurgence.”

The Report complied by PwC highlights the emphasis of place narrative:

“Whether you’re a council leader, mayor or LEP chair, place leaders need to be able to tell the story of their city in a way that resonates on the doorstep and on the world stage, for today and for the future.”
